The annual President’s Luncheon was very well attended by a good cross section of 80 plus people from various divisions of the club, which included some of our much valued sponsors.  Our resident MC and life member Peter Anthony got things rolling by introducing life members and special guests. Auskick President Simon Steer spoke on the formation of Vic kick which is now Auskick and how it has grown to over 200 participants.  Justin touched on how the club was directly involved with the fires as we had members on the front fighting and others who lost some property. As a president he couldn’t be more prouder of the members and the community who attended and rallied behind this worthy cause.

The President handed over the cheque for $13,240.75 to Mr Kevin Crosato who is the Eastern Central Council President for St Vincent de Paul Society, this was the total amount raised for the bushfire victims at a special family club day fundraiser held on February 20th which saw over 3000 people attending.  Kevin spoke on how the society was formed and his involvement as a volunteer for the past 21 years with St Vinnies. He also spoke on where the money and how it would be spent to help the victims who survived the horrific fires of black Saturday.

A bit of humour was also thrown in about how he missed out on playing for Carlton, it was a guy by the name of Jezza who was just that little bit better than him, who got the nod. And Kevin finished off with a true story about how Big Bad Mel Brown who played for Richmond in 1973-74, got his retribution when playing in Perth against a church team. Lets just say, he got in return what he dished out himself.

Overall it was a very successful and eventful day for Chirnside Park Football club and the bush fire appeal.
