2018-National Masters Carnival

masters crewYes, we may call them fossils or silly old buggers and we all know they have lost that exhilarating run in their legs, and their engines are showing signs of seizing. But they all have one thing in common, and that’s their passion for the game they love and have played since junior football. Let’s not forget the long term friendships and mates and the camaraderie they get from our great game, Australian rules football.

More than 800 footballers plus officials, coaches and families converged on Coffs Harbour from 30th Sept to 6th Oct 2018 to compete in the national masters carnival. What a great achievement it was for the Chirnside Park Football Club to be represented by Mick Carusi, Anthony Uhr-Henry 050's, Steve Featherstone 055's, former senior assistant coach Warrick Dickson was the playing coach for the over 50’s, Alex Petrovic was the team manager for the 050's, Scott Hawker and our Masters coach Reece Thomas played in the 045's division 2. For the women we had Sharelene (Charlie) Hetherington our Masters 0'30's Captain represent Victoria in the Womens Masters 030's division 1.
Also we saw some great individual achievements come out of the carnival and for the first time in our clubs 40 year history we now have All Australian Team inductees and a national best & fairest winner. Mick Carusi, Anthony Uhr-Henry and Warrick Dickson made the All Australian 050's team, Mick was in a three way tie with 2 queenslanders for the best and fairest award for the over 50’s division 1.
Team results:
045’s Division 2 Premiers - Reece Thomas & Scott Hawker
050’s Division 1 Premiers - Mick Carusi, Anthony Uhr-Henry, Warrick Dickson & Alex Petrovic
055's Division 1 Premiers - Steve Featherstone
Congratulations to all the players that represented their states and on behalf of our entire club, well done its a massive achievement for, The Chief, Mumbia, Hawk, Wazza, Alex, Reece and Charlie in representing Chirnside Park and the Victorian Masters Mens & Womens teams.
