Round 14 v Mooroolbark

Our last game of the season was this morning at home against Mooroolbark. Dave and Dom asked for each of the 19 boys to do "something special" for themselves, their team mates and to remember the last game of our 17 season. The boys worked well at attacking the ball first, getting it at ground level and running with it using our handball links resulting in 9 goals and 15 behinds!! Congrats to our goal kickers Will (2), Isaac (2), and Maximus, Josh B, Zak, Hugh and Jackson who bagged one each.

Awards this week went to Casey and Hugh (medals), and Zak, Josh V, Ryekan, Xander and Aussie, well deserved boys! It was a fantastic way to end our incredible season.

They should all be congratulated on their efforts all year.

Final scores were

Chirnside Park 9.15.69 d Mooroolbark 4.2.26

Round 13 v Blackburn

This week the boys played at home against Blackburn. We knew it was going to be a tough one, going down to them by 3 points on the siren last time.
We say it takes a team to win a game and today was one of those games where everyone had to step up and do something to get us over the line. It was a tough, quite physical battle all day. A taste of what footy will be like next season.
Well done on a fantastic team effort.

Congrats to our goal scorers Will (2), Isaac (2), Aaron (1) and Josh B (1)

Final scores were

Chirnside Park 6.5.41d Blackburn 6.2.38

Round 12 v Croydon

Today the boys played away against Croydon. It was the first time in a little while they played the whole ground. They got off to a slow start, and effort levels were low, letting the opposition dictate the terms of the game. After a rev up at quarter time by Dave and Dom, the boys effort levels increased and we started to get our hands on the ball first and run with it, or fight for the ball and cause a stoppage. We ended up having a lot of the ball in the second half with some good work in the ruck and thru the middle and good defence down back. A good team game played today to come away with the win. Congratulations to our goal kickers Zak who kicked 2, and Isaac, Xander and Will bagging a goal each.

Final Scores were Chirnside Park 5.7.37d Croydon 4.2.26

Awards this week went to Will, Cooper and Zak (medals) and Aaron and Charles. Congratulations boys well deserved

Round 11 v Boronia

This week the boys played away against Boronia. It was a freezing start to the day, but the boys came out to play with record breaking runs and carries kicking 6 goals in the 1st quarter. Dave and Dom asked to win the ball below the knees in the second quarter and the team delivered. As always our team rules of effort, team work and "doing something" payed off with the team sharing the ball, the interchange and the goals! There were 10 individual goal scorers today, more than half the team which was great to see. Congrats to those goal scorers Hugh (3), Isaac (2) and Xander, Aaron, Will, Kai, Cooper, Jackson, Josh B and Charles all bagging one each! A fantastic team effort

Final Scores were

Chirnside Park 13.8.86 d Boronia 3.4.22

Round 10 v Vermont

This week we played against Vermont at home. We got off to a slow start and let the opposition dictate the terms of the game. After a rev up at quarter time by Dave and Dom the boys decided they wanted to set the standard of the game and smashed the clearances out of the Middle. 12 runs thru the middle broke our team record in the second quarter and getting our hands on the ball first allowed us to kick 4 goals to none in that qtr. The boys honoured the team rules of effort and team work and we came away with a great win by everyone doing "good things"

Congrats to our goal kickers Will (2), Charles (2), Harry (1), Cooper (1), Hugh (1), Josh V (1) and Maximus who kicked his first goals of the season (2)

Final scores were
Chirnside Park 10.6.66 d Vermont 2.2.14

Round 9 v Montrose

This week the team played at home against Montrose. We are so proud of the team. What a fantastic effort against a quality opposition. Dave and Dom asked for effort and the boys delivered every quarter. They went hard at the ball as asked and played well as team. Getting our hands on the ball first allowed us to kick the first couple of goals of the game. Great efforts yet again in the ruck, middle and some excellent defending down in back line. Congrats to our goal kickers Will who bagged 3 and Zak and Isaac who got one each. Overall a terrific team game, a little un lucky to lose in the last kick of the game.

Final Scores were

Chirnside Park 5.4.34 def by Montrose 6.5.41

Awards this week went to Josh B and Harry (medals) and Josh V, Aaron, Kai and Jackson. Congrats boys well deserved!

Round 8 v Donvale

Today the boys played away against Donvale. What a chilly morning it was. The poor kids hands and noses were bright red. A good team effort again today. The kids continue to work with the team rules of effort and team work. Once our effort levels lifted, and the boys went in to help each other out at ground level the scoreboard starting ticking over. We say it takes a team to win a game, there were some great individual efforts today and some incredible teamwork. Goals were well spread with Will and Isaac kicking 2, and Aaron, Ryekan, Harry and Jackson kicking one each. Well done boys ??

Final scores were

Chirnside 8.8.56 d Donvale 3.4.22

Awards this week went to Charles and Will (medals) and Nathan, Ryekan, Isaac and Jackson. Well deserved boys! Thanks as always to our parent helpers

Round 7 v Boronia

Chirnside Park 11.6.72
Boronia             2.0.12

This week the boys took on the Boronia Hawks at Home. What an amazing 4 quarters of footy.

Well done to the boys who stood up in the ruck and worked hard to tap it down to their teammates. Ruck work is something the team have really improved on this year, being able to share the load has been a huge advantage.

Effort levels were high throughout the entire game. Dave and Dom asked for 20 metre runs and handballs and the boys executed the use of swing man well today. All 19 players once again played their role whether it was defending down back, run and carrying through the middle or standing tall, taking some big marks and kicking goals down forward.

Goals were well spread again today with Will bagging 4, Isaac kicking 3, Hugh with 2 and Zak and Ryekan kicking 1 each.

A well rounded team effort from all involved.

Congratulations to our award winners Aussie (medal), Xander, Josh V and Bruce

Thanks as always to our parent helpers.

Round 6 v Glen Waverley

Chirnside Park 7.2.44

Glen Waverley 5.4.34

This week the boys played away at Glen Waverley. The ground was quite a bit wider than we are used to playing on. The boys listened well to Dave and Dom's instructions using swing man and the centre corridor for most of the game.

Team work and effort are a just a couple of our team rules and the boys well and truly delivered today. Goals were well spread again with Hugh kicking 3 and Zak, Will, Jackson and Cooper bagging a goal each. The back line defended extremely well, doing their job to clear the ball out of the danger zone.

The boys in the middle worked hard to win the ball, a lot of the time at ground level and then run and carry with it giving our forward line every opportunity to score.

Well done boys on a fantastic 4 quarters of footy today, we had the wind and some ginormous opponents to overcome

Awards this week went to Hugh (medal) Kai, Harry and Casey congratulations boys well deserved.

Thanks as always to our parent helpers

Round 5 v Rowville

This week the boys took on The Rowville Knights at home.

It was going to be an interesting game from the get given that the boys fell short playing against them in the lightening premiership just last week.

The boys put in an incredible team effort and we're definitely ahead of our opponent in hard ball gets, carries and runs. We continue to ask that they get their hands on the footy first, now becoming easier having Aaron, Ryekan, Isaac and Josh V stand out in the ruck contests.

Congratulations to our goal kickers Isaac (3), Zak (2), Harry (1), Bruce (1), Aaron (1), Cooper (1)

Final Scores Chirnside 9.8.62
Rowville Knights 2.2.14

Congratulations to our award winners Maximus (medal) and Will, Xander and Zak well done boys
Thanks as always to all our parent helpers.

Round 2 v Ferntree Gully Eagles

Last Sunday the boys had their first game at home vs Ferntree Gully Eagles. Will got us off to an amazing start kicking 2 goals in as many minutes. The boys worked hard in the ruck against opponents who were quite a bit bigger than them. Ryekan was a stand out in this role jumping to some amazing heights. We say it takes a team to win a game and our major focuses are effort and team work. The boys did not disappoint, with everyone playing their role and working hard for their mates. Goals were well spread Will (3), Aussie (1), Zak (1), Bruce (1) and congratulations to Hugh (1) who kicked his first goal for the team.

Final scores were

Chirnside 7.8.50 d Ferntree Gully 3.4.22.
