Youth Girls 2010 Semi Final @ Lewis Reserve 9:00am
Chirnside Park def Kew 5-2-32 def 3-9-27
Saturday 21st Aug was always going to be a tough game but we didn't realise how tough till the ball bounced! The girls warm up, motivtion and voice was up high, by 8:20 all the girls where out on the field having a talk up by the coach, getting a feel for the ground and (chilly) surroundings!
1st Quarter CP: 0-0-0 K: 1-3-9 The panthers 1st quarter was veeery slow starting going against the breeze, Kew hit hard, fast, and really showed they where going to be a force to be played today! The girls knew that quarter wasn't the best but that never put them down, it was the 1st of 4 to be played. The midfield worked hard, and the backline worked overtime.
2nd Quarter CP: 2-2-14 K:1-3-9 Every quarter is a new beginning so therefore the panthers work-rate went into overtime! The centre clearances and ability to get the ball out was fantastic to see, the strong work from Ashlee Derooy, Zoe Alston and Monique Kouvaras. Lauren Howell, Ash 'Ponga' Evans and Hayley Gorman worked well in the forward line to produce more scoring opportunities. Monique scoring the first goal of the day with a back flip/behind backwards kick through the goals, giving everyone a boost up! The team spirit was amazing and the efforts continued with a ' Oh.. What a feeling..' goal from Lauren charging into the goalsquare on her own.
3rd Quarter CP: 3-2-20 K:1-8-14 Running against the wind, with the backline keeping tight and very strong shortly after the Siren went the ball was tapped down and kicked over to wing with Catie on the run, kicking to our Forward Hayley, Receiving the hand pass Catie went through for a goal. With the backline keeping the pressure on Kew, they where only able to score behinds. Alot of run was produced from Courtney Anderson, Ebony Reus, Ash Porter and Catie Wilson.
4th and Final Quarter CP: 5-2-32 K: 3-9-27 The Final quarter, the final do or die! The panthers wanted this as much as any player! The girls worked hard to keep the ball alive, within our forward line was extreme flooding by Kew the girls, but we were ready again to handle it. With Kew responding early with a quick goal and behind leaving the Panthers behind, Ebony Reus showed them how to do it - Kicking one unbelievable goal from near boundary, a freakish goal! The ball continued from one end to the other with constant turnovers and a tug of war! With less then 2 minutes to go, Kew kicked a goal leaving there final score 3-9-27 where Panthers where 4-2-26 all the girls had there heads down, thinking it was over! Some of the older girls felt it hard as they could have been playing there last Youth Girls game ever! But the play needed to continue with only 30 seconds left, the ball bounced up Ashlee D hitting it out to Monique, hand passing it out to Catie, one bounce.................. and kick.....................bouncing right in front of the points, second bounce... and 3 bounce straight through the goals!
The panthers where up by 5pionts with only seconds to go! Kew got the ball back to the umpire quickly and the ball bounced and the siren blew!!
Everyone screaming, crying and yelling, jumping around like crazy (parents, players, coach & support staff!)
A fantastic finish to a great game!
'We're Never Beaten Till The Final Siren Sounds'
Well done Girls, so proud of you!
Goals: Lauren, Monique, Ebony R, Catie 2

Round 15 Chirnside Park vs Seville 4-3-27 def 3-2-20 Saturday 14th Aug 10:30am @ Kimberley Reserve
Turning up to Kimberley Reserve today felt bare with no Auskickers around having a ball playing football, Seville arrived early.
The Pink Panthers started to arrive withthe ground set up and ready to go, the girls where pumped and ready to get out there. Captain Nikki Evans aggravated pre-existing injury whilst warm-up putting her out of the game - a big lose out early (2-3weeks out).
The strong winds proved to be a problem withthe panthers only kicking 1 goal against the wind first quarter and Seville kicked their first ever goal against the panthers with the strong winds carrying them over the line. First quarter saw fantastic work from Catie Wilson, Zoe Alston, Hayley Gorman working really well together to get the ball forward. The back-linekept up a great fight with letting 2 easy balls through.
Second quarter started with very hard hit by Seville, Chirnside Park kept going, Catie Wilson getting the tap out from Ashlee Derooyto go forward and kick her first for the day! With Seville flooding big time with 13 out of the 15 girls on the field in our forward line, made it very hard for players to get the football out. Never the less Chirnside kept coming with another goal from Catie.
Third quarter the girls came out ready to play football! Chirnside kept the balling going well with strong attack from Courtney Anderson, Lauren Howell, Rebecca Dardengo, Ashlee Derooy working the ball forward against the strong winds - The girls got a little too fansy turning over the football. Seville pushed forward forcing Chirnside to turn it over, with an off the ball attack to Zoe Alston saw concussion and injury on her putting her out for the rest of the game.
Forth and Final quarter Seville thought they had won, but the Panther never give up with Semi finals this week - Giving up was never an option. Final quarter going out Catie Wilson only needed 1 goal to be the leading goal kicker in the eastern competition..... and she never disappoints first tap out down to Catie getting the 1-2 from Hayley running hard and straight through the goals!! Congratulations Catie!! In the final quarter the girls only needed to keep going forward with a great win for a very rough game.
The girls pulled it off... playing for the ball always wins!
Need to keep to good work up for this week!!!

Round 14 at Lewis Reserve
Saturday 7th Aug. 10:30am
East Burwood vs Chirnside Park 0-1-1 def by 8-13-61
Today was our first game at Lewis in some time now and well it wasn't our best, but we did put in a full 4 quarter effort! The day started out slow with the game before us, starting late pushing our game back setting our pre-game start up out of whack but the girls had their heads up and pushing hard.
The Panthers having a slow start out of the centre, causing a heart attack for the coach - realising today was going to be a long, hard game! The first 15 minutes were very scrappy with producing 2 goals 2 behinds to start the girls off, the back-line didn't see much of the ball but saw Zoe Alston's outstanding performance blocking and locking the ball into our forward line! Mia Tamos also stood up attacking the ball strongly and not taking no for an answer penetrating kicks to our advantage. Kalsea, Bec and Ash D took a rotation ruck role on supporting and dominating the Ruck positions, where Catie Wilson stood up strongly in the forward line kicking 5 goals to help her goal kicking tally for the season up to a total of 53.
Our 3rd quarter of the day seems to be the highlight, with strong marks from Rebecca Dardengo and Nikki Evans assisted by strong runs from Greta F-King, Jennah and Kiera White, with 3rd quarter siren going and a free kick awarded to Panther Kiera White for a very high tackle, missing the goal narrowly finished off our 3rd.
Leading into the 4th and final quarter, the girls went out looking tired, swooping the forwards with the back-line, east burwood scoring a behind from the defence. 4th quarter saw a high, strong mark from Catie wilson, strong long assisting leads from Mia, Nikki and Krissy. With a fair strong bump from Ashlee D saw East Burwood get in an uproar, but the girls marched on kicking, tackling, and producing a strong, hard contact football.
Well Done Girls!
Last game of the Season next week! Seville at HOME If we play like we did this week...... Finals will be a very tough run!
Keep the work up girls!

Round 12
Sat 24/ Jul 10:30am at Kimberley Reserve
Chirnside Park def. St. Simons
20-16-136 def 0-0-0
After coming from a loss to East Malvern last week, the girls had something to prove. The girls arrived early to prepare the ground and facilities for the game – having some fun along the way.
With almost everyone arrived (due to the team managers incorrect time… Hayley ) and prepared to go out and play a strong game of football against St Simons the only thing we needed now was St. Simons and the umpire. Upon arrival of them both we discovered we were playing with only 11, making the panthers bench a very full one.
1st quarter kicking towards the creek was tough, but the girls opened the quarter with 4 goals holding St Simons to 0, with the girls entering the field in unfamiliar positions. All the girls played strong consistent football, the fantastic linking up, team work and LEADS showed strong improvement from the beginning of the year to now!
2nd Quarter came quicker then it seemed, the girls jogged over had a quick drink and a enthusiastic talk from the coach. The girls went out talking loud and prepared to get into the play, the mud proved slippery with girls looking like afl players slipping over. (not as much as the Hawks tho).
Kicking a whopping 7 behinds and 3 goals didn’t leave the coach too happy, but the girls were having fun and enjoying the game – so what more can you ask for?
3rd quarter saw the girls fly high kicking 5 goals and only 1 behind , with Zoe Alston and Ashley Porter both injured. Keltie handed the coaching board over to them, standing back and watching the future players and possible coaches to take the lime light. They moved all the players around fairly and in different positions. 3rd quarter was a great effort from everyone.
Final quarter, still in the hands of Zoe and Porter, with small inputs from Keltie saw the girls increase their lead, still keeping St Simons scoreless, with a impressive run from Courtney – to save St Simons near goal. With strong performances from Monique, Rebecca, "Ponga", Kiah, Courtney , "Lettuce", Ebz and Nikki it was great to see with improving efforts from first year players Keira, Greta and Jennah playing in the midfield.

Round 11
Sat 17/Jul 10:30 at Stanley Grose E. Malvern Def Chirnside Park 9-13-67 def 1-3-9
Today’s game was a very important game, but unfortunley didn’t come out with a win. East Malvern kept their strong defence up and strong forward line going while today’s performance from the Panthers was ‘not our usual selves’. Upon arrival we discovered the oval, waiting around for ages for East Malvern to arrive, with No change rooms, nor a big ground. The panthers felt very much out of it.
With our usual pre-game sequence disrupted we did our best with what we had. Today the Panthers went in with the mental mindset of losing, and thats sadly how we played.
There was some outstanding performances by Rebecca Dardengo, Zoe Alston, Nikki Evans, and Lauren Howell. These girls kept the backline in fantastic strength. Along side of Kiah and Kelsea playing strong ruck and contesting everything.
